Round up with The Shade Tree

March is International Women’s History month and The Source+ is honoring the many women who have helped revolutionize our industry and made monumental contributions to our community. As we celebrate the achievements of the great women across the world, it’s important to recognize those women who are in need of a lending hand. The Shade Tree is an organization dedicated to sheltering women, children, & their pets.

Here is the reality we face:

  • As of January 2019, Nevada had an estimated 5,530 experiencing homelessness on any given day, 342 individuals were families with children
  • 85% of domestic violence victims are women
  • 1/2 of all homeless women and children in the U.S. are fleeing from domestic violence

The Source+ is proud of the community work we’ve done together with you. With your help through our round-up program, we’ve successfully raised thousands for local Nevada charities including over $4,500 for Candlelighters of Nevada in September, over $2,400 for Ink Ribbon Foundation in October, over $3,000 for Forgotten Not Gone in November, over $4,900 to Three Square in December, and over $2,800 to Opportunity Village in January . Your kind and thoughtful donations will help local Nevadans improve their quality of life. You should feel good knowing you’ve made a difference in our community. Thank you for contributing to these great causes.

The Source+ is partnering with The Shade Tree in March to help raise funds for their mission. The Shade Tree’s mission is to provide safe shelter to abused and homeless women and women with children in crisis; as well as, offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance.

The Shade Tree holds the following core beliefs; That no one should ever have to endure a state of homelessness, existing in fear for personal safety and without the means to meet even the most basic of human needs – food and shelter. That every human being, regardless of social status, has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. That all homeless children are victims because they lack choice and mobility. That homelessness is a community problem that impacts everyone. That everyone can be a part of the solution.

For the entire month of March, round your purchase to the nearest dollar and we’ll donate the difference to our partners at The Shade Tree. You can also donate directly in-store via our donation jars.
